Girl Talk - Feed The Animals (2008)

Date Released: June 19, 2008
Album Genre: Mash-Up, Electronic, Hip-Hop, Dance
Album Rating: 7/10
Sounds Like: Immuzikation

Girl Talk's newest album, just came out yesterday June 19th. I really wish I could learn how to do what Girl Talk does; true mash-up. I can't rate any of the tracks individually because the whole album is basically a mash-up mixtape. What can I say? Girl Talk is amazing at what he does, the album isn't really very different from his other albums, though refined and new samples. Don't get me wrong though, if you want mash-up this is the top of the line with samples from new to old tracks.

He actually does an amazing mash-up of Jay-Z and Radiohead's Paranoid Android in Set It Off, along with The Guess Who and Grandmaster Flash. I think he just put four of my favorite artists for each decade into one song. Also the track Hands In The Air is pretty impressive, it's even got my favorite song Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You, and a bunch of other tracks I can't really name. I basically freaked out when I heard him mix Hustlin' with Rebel Rebel and then have it go smoothly to MIA in Let Me See You.

Similar to the "pay what you want" approach from Radiohead's In Rainbows album, Girl Talk has given you the same choice. You can get the album at the Illegal Art website and pay any price you want. You can even put in 0$, though you'll be asked why. That's right, why you CHEAPO? And no, I didn't try, I just read it on another blog.

I was listening to this again today after a show here in Minneapolis last night - I had forgotten how much I like "What It's All About."
