Schools Out!

ninorojo

Well, for the non-high school kids anyways. Apologies to anyone who tried to email me the last week, had absolutely no time for the blog. Anyways, starting out with some "hits" that came about while I was away. Yeah, what a terrible word, way too popular. I had mixed reactions to The Twelves' remix of Metric Help I'm Alive, but I eventually got off my "Metric fanboy" high horse and really grew to like the track. I'm sure you can too. Second is Justice again with their remix of Lenny Kravitz, I'd be doing you an injustice for not posting it. What can I say? Has Justice written all over it, I really want to find out how they made those sounds that's so particular to all their tracks. I'll call it the scratchy kick drum. And lastly, possibly my favorite track this week, the Ghosthustler remix of Futurecop! and you totally know my weakness for tracks that sound like this. So it's not saying anything about the other two tracks in this post cause they're all good. If it sounds like it could be in a 90's movie, I'm game.

I don't know, I adore The Twelves but that Metric remix is the weakest I've heard of there's. Compared to say, the MSTRKRFT remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Zero" I think it sounds...lazy. And the song has an urgency that just doesn't work with the lounge-y disco vibe Twelves gives it. I mean she's saying "Help, I'm Alive!" and her hearts "beating like a hammer,"by jove! Certainly calls for something more sick than disco. *nods head in disappointment*

It's definitely not their strongest remix, you're right on that one. But even though it's one of their weaker remixes, it's still better than a lot of tracks I've heard lately.

I wonder if the meaning of the lyrics is lost in translation. I mean, they're from Brazil, right? They might have only seen the song for the beat.
