Monogem – Wait And See

Yeah, kind of love this song. It satisfies my electropop urges, I’ll have to watch for more Monogem in the future.

2 Many DJ’s – As Heard On Radio Soulwax

I felt it appropriate to also post Part 1, for the sake of including everything. Not completely sure why the video I posted yesterday is completely different from this Part 2 version, but I guess now you have three mixes?

Back From The Ashes

So I’m back to test the water. That hiatus post should have been put up a year ago, but it really let me rethink things. The blog does not have to be a dedication, but my love for this music is growing. Don’t expect daily posts like before, but I will be here. Unfortunately, less downloadable content, but more discussion about music and newly released albums.

Portlandia

So I’m off to Portland this week, hopefully it won’t be raining the entire time. Music unrelated to that comment, finally weening myself off Hype Machine a bit, starting off with the Fred Falke remix of Nero Reaching Out. It’s an older one, but well it’s a great track. Slightly different sounding remix by Plastic Plates of Nile Delta Aztec. Actually reminds me of the good old days of when I started this blog, light techno I guess with an awesome beat. Lastly, the Aeroplane remix of Surahn Wonderful. Funky.

Alright, starting off with an older track. A friend introduced me to Lorde last weekend so I had to check it out, he was right, kind of like Lana Del Rey. She probably resents that comparison. Anyways, so far my favorite remix of her track Swingin’ Party is by Terace. Second up is the Oxford remix of Portland‘s Deezy Daisy. Great retro feel there, which totally follows over to my next chosen track, Hey Champ‘s On Holiday. I think I have a really specific taste in music… like angelic female vocalist with a good bass beat and retro sound…

Got three killer tracks today, I’ve been saving them up for a bit until I got three tracks together. First off is the damn amazing Barretso remix of Lana Del Rey Ride. I’ve heard a couple remixes of this track and this tops it. It’s more upbeat than the Photek remix, another one I really like. Next up is the Alex Metric remix of Empire of the Sun DNA. My first thought hearing this track was “wait, Empire of the Sun released a new album?” They did, in June! Something for me to check out. As with most Alex Metric tracks, they’re always a great listen. Lastly is Robotaki‘s remix of The M Machine A King Alone. I love the sound Robotaki tracks have, he makes great music.

I’m still alive, I have to stop starting posts like this. Although barely, big qualifying exam coming up for school to prove I’m worth something. Listening to music takes some emotional commitment on my part and unfortunately that gets taken up by everything else. I’ve been checking out random stuff lately though, slowly getting back into the music scene. In terms of remixes, my typical fallback for great music, it’s been disappointing. I think dubstep really got a stranglehold on things. As for original music, I’m delightfully surprised. Let’s just say, this is inspirational for me to start listening and start posting again. Also, I finally got a decent music listening set-up going at home with some old-school Harbeth speakers. Let me tell you, this is a major improvement from my previous set-up which was cheap ass bookshelf Sony speakers from who knows when (I know, you lost any respect you had for me). Comparing the before and after, it’s completely eye opening… or ear opening? It’s like I listened to music in the past with saran wrap around my ears. Those audiophiles aren’t straight up bat shit crazy!

Anyways, let’s get to the music shall we? No remixes today, been checking Hype Machine lately to revive my music taste buds. Great stuff right now, starting off with one of my favorite tracks of the half-week, Panama Wedding‘s All of the People. Don’t know much about this band, but I’m definitely interested. Also one that really caught my attention, Disclosure‘s Help Me Lose My Mind featuring London Grammar. Lastly, let’s go back to the 80′s, Scenic Shockwaves. What, I like retro.
