I finally got a chance to go through my inbox, have a couple tracks I really liked for you guys which will probably bleed into the next couple posts. Starting off with the Chew Fu remix of Robyn Dancing On My Own, finally something that’s electro/dance and not club. I’ve been posting too much club lately. It’s a great mix with Robyn as well, her stuff is usually the first thing people will go to remix, not a bad thing although it comes off that way doesn’t it. Second track is a bit lighter, the Tame Impala cover of Midnight Juggernauts’ new single Vital Signs; both of which you should totally check out. Both Aussies which is a scene I’ve unknowingly ignored for the last year. Tame Impala has some interesting tracks, you should check out this video a friend forwarded to me a couple days ago of their song Solitude Is Bliss; cool video. Also, Midnight Juggernaut’s new album The Crystal Axis due for May 28th, I still know nothing about it. Great cover though, here’s the original if you’re curious. A little high video. And lastly, the Buffetlibre remix of Plushgun Mixtape. The original is actually part of their PEACE project if you missed that with my last post about them.
Well, Buffetlibre and Amnesty International have joined forces to help produce 180 exclusive new songs from artists around the world. The collected money will be used for Amnesty Internationals’s investigation and action campaigns aimed at preventing cases of Human Rights abuses around the world. You get download access to all 180 tracks when you donate here, you get stuff when you donate other than a sense you’ve helped the world a little? That’s crazy. I’ve only chosen three tracks I liked which not surprisingly are all electronic/club, but the compilation actually span various genres. Of the three tracks, there were a lot, I decided to choose the Crystal Electro remix of Gala Tough Love, the Josh Harris remix of Avian X, and none other than The Toxic Avenger.
Gala – Tough Love (Crystal Electro Remix)
Avian X – Dark Circles (Josh Harris Remix)
The Toxic Avenger – NU 1553
Been away from the blog a bit, but I’m happily back. I’m glad to see that my co-writers have filled my spot well while I’ve been gone. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it beforehand, please welcome our newest writer Dexter! Totally four weeks late on that. And excuse my impulse post yesterday, genuinely excited that it was actually a Daft Punk track, but to my disappointment yet sweet surprise, it wasn’t. Although the track was decent.
So I’ve had these tracks sitting on my desktop on my break and they’ve been bothering me every time I’ve landed myself on the desktop to post them. Here they are! First is the Van She Tech from Michael Di Francesco, the guitar/synth player of the group, of Dragonette‘s Pick Up The Phone. I couldn’t help myself because I love Dragonette, completely a guilty pleasure I’ve publicly disclosed. It also makes me go back to the Van She remixes which I haven’t heard any new ones in a while. Stretched out intro, but I’m completely into the main beat that comes in around a minute fourteen. Haven’t heard many awesome retro 80’s beats in a while, this is as close as it gets. Trust Van She to do the deed. In the same vein, Buffetlibre‘s remix of The Antlers. Really cheery sounding remix, lyrics are still kind of sad. And lastly, an original from Death to the Throne. I didn’t ignore your email my friend! It just took a long time for me to get to posting it… first thing that came to mind when I listened to this track was ‘bedazzled’ or ‘bejeweled’.
That tonight’s gonna be a good night? No, don’t worry, as much as I’d like to, I’m not posting that Black Eyed Peas song. Completely unrelated intro to this post. A bit cheery, but the Buffetlibre remix of Dragonette‘s Easy. It’s from their new album Fixin to Thrill which I’m ashamed to say I haven’t got yet. I’m a huge Dragonette fan regardless of how pop you’re going to say they sound. The Mr. Vega remix of Popskarr Tonight, which sounds like an 80’s revival type remix. I actually had to double check that Popskarr wasn’t actually from the 80’s, I’ve never heard of them before. To my surprise they’re actually from South Africa; DJ Lapse whom I’ve posted multiple times before is the producer and IAMWAVES does the vocals. And lastly, the Tits & Clits remix of Royksopp Tricky Tricky. The track is tricky indeed, it sounds like it’s going to be awfully club/techno sounding, but it does a 180 right after the intro. Okay maybe not a 180, it does a 45…
Another mix from Buffetlibre! I always look forward to these things, although the things with mixes are sometimes they’re meticulously put together, almost obsessively, and sometimes they’re a bit more slack and more like what I’d like to consider a very good radio show. And this seems to be one of those cases. That might be a failed attempt at a compliment. Very chill-out mix. From Buffetlibre, “On 25 July 2005 a bit of us had to be kept in our memories forever. The closing of Cibeles Theater carried the end of Mond Club and so, the end of the coolest nights in Barcelona. Despite the huge clubbing offer in the city, the synergy of the theater and the club marked a golden age that we still love to recall, with wistful smile and wet eyes, with whom shared those moments with us. Almost ten years after its opening, Buffetlibre DJ’s has joined Buenavista, resident of Mond Club and one of the best dj’s from Barcelona, to pay homage to some of the most memorable nights in our life.” Great stuff.
Included three tracks, two of which are remixes. And that isn’t because I’m used to posting remixed, I actually liked the two the most in the mix. I guess I’m prone to remixes. But there are definitely some gems in this tracklist. First is Ladytron‘s Playgirl which definitely caught my ears, of course it’s Ladytron. The two remixes, the Cajmere remix of The Juan Maclean and Les Rythmes Digitales (also known as Jacques Lu Cont) remix of Cassius. Love these remixes. I was going to post the extended disco mix of Annie’s The Greatest Hit, which was mislabeled Royskopp remix, but I had no way of getting it.

Checking emails, three pages worth of them. Not being exactly thorough so I might miss some gems although I apologize for the lack of posting mixes. I’ll “try my best” to get to that, whatever that’s worth these days. I’ve got some pretty good ones sitting on my desktop waiting to be posted. For now, three tracks as usual. First off is the ever so popular Fred Falke‘s remix of La Roux which comes as no surprise as both are quite known in their own genres. The usual French house sounds from Fred Falke. Second is The Twelves remix of Database versus French Horn Rebellion‘s Beaches and Friends. Not completely sure what the original tracks are. And lastly, the Buffetlibre and Sidechains remix of Little Boots‘ Remedy. Track takes a strange twist after a minute into the track, very interesting.
I’m off to Seattle for a couple days! Thought I’d include that useless piece of information and judging by how I’ll be traveling (traveling on a shoestring) I highly doubt I’ll have a computer. Starting off with the Kris Menace remix of Bag Raiders‘ Shooting Stars, I can’t get enough of this track. There’s also another remix out there by Shazam of this track you can check out, personally I enjoyed the Kris Menace remix more but they’re both great. Second is the unexpected Buffetlibre remix of Cartridge. From the intro, I was expecting something rather different, but I actually really liked the direction Buffetlibre took on this. Quite happy. Lastly, the Light Year remix of Jay Z. Thank you for remixing this.
