Seriously, stop it. If you’re going to sport those things, you might as well take on the whole grandma attire. Now for the tracks, I mainly chose these because they sounded funky… or well interesting. First is the CSS remix of Fever Ray‘s Seven. I’ll pay more attention towards Fever Ray, the alias for Karin from The Knife. Also hooray for a new CSS remix, I haven’t seen one in such a long time. As always, I love the weird sounds they come up with. Very unorthodox. Second is the Sampha remix of The xx‘s Basic Space. I’ve actually been listening to their album for a while now, just about ready to write a review about it. Had to really let this one set in, I really like it. And lastly, the Joakim remix of Metronomy. To the DJ’s out there, good luck mixing this track in, it changes it’s beat so many times.
This is the day to reflect on the week and do the dirty deed of posting the more popular tracks. Skipping over Britney Spears, The Killers, and any more Kanye for now, they get enough publicity anyways here’s some tracks I thought were pretty good. First is a mashup by Eve Massacre of Soulwax‘s remix of MGMT‘s Kids, Yeah Yeah Yeah‘s Cheated Hearts, and Peaches‘ Fuck The Pain Away. Very well done. By the way Eve, if you search for your site in Google it gives some very confusing results. Second is the CSS remix of Kings of Leon. Very bubbly and electric, now I don’t understand why CSS didn’t make their second album sound like this. It’s like playing Mario at a rock concert, I love it. And lastly, because the first track just didn’t have enough MGMT, the Holy Ghost! remix of MGMT. It gets pretty good after the instrumental solo at 3:43.
Okay, old news, Sarah Palin is in. I don’t talk much about politics on this blog, well I don’t talk about anything really other than music, and by all means I won’t go into any depth, but I couldn’t pass this one up. I know that if you’re here and you’re wondering why you’re at a music blog, you searched ‘Sarah Palin hot legs’ or ‘Sarah Palin sexy hot’ something of that matter, you sickos. I’m not sure what the republicans were going for with that move, most forward thinking women vote for democrats because of their policies first and then gender of candidates. It’s not like they’re going to switch over because McCain chose a very conservative, very Christian woman running mate. As an added plus, she has plans for off-shore drilling, spoken like a true American. She’s also family oriented with 5 children one who has down syndrome, I’m a tad weary about how much time she can actually spend worrying about the world without ignoring her family. At least Obama was smart enough to bring in the very stereotypical white old man, he might grab some random voters who were weary about race in the first place.
And when you search up ‘Sarah Palin’ in Google, one of the images that pop up is a picture of her family. Her eldest daughter Bristol? I knew she was going to be a scandal whore from the beginning. Look at her! Though I’m not sure what this fuss is about Sarah ‘supposedly’ faking her pregnancy to cover up for her daughter. That’s just false teeth. Surprisingly the day this ‘scandal’ came on the net, news was released that she’s pregnant now out of wedlock anyways if it’s her first or second time, who knows. So some truth came out of this anyways. How old is she again? No, I’m not going down that road. You know McCain just smacked himself in the forehead when he found out. All this from late night searching on Sept 1st. I’m pretty sure I’ve just offended a fair amount of Americans, might have to switch over to my Russian demographic for a while which totals to a number of 1.
Less talk, more music! I’ve got three tracks for you today which is surprising, I probably won’t be posting as much now classes have started. Though please continue sending me music, ideas, whatever. It makes this much easier cause I can spend days which I don’t have looking for music. First remix is a familiar face here, the MMMatthias remix of Santogold. Loving the dirty electro sound. Second is actually a track I highly recommend, the Cryptonites track Revolver Disco. Yes please, wait for that very short beat that comes in at 1:07, more of that. Can’t get enough of it. And lastly, the very late Cut Copy remix of CSS. Posted the Frankmusik remix of this track a while back, though Cut Copy took a completely different approach to it.
Another great track from Phrenzy. Definitely heard this great track by Van She many times, a remix of it can’t hurt. I’m definitely loving it! Second is a rather old remix by Frankmusik of CSS. He’s kind of the underrated version of Calvin Harris, he deserves way more hype than he has. And lastly, the Vega remix of Justice. Why hasn’t there been more remixes of this track? I love Valentine. It’s such an eerie track, but that’s what makes it so good. Screw Stress, this track blows it out of the water.
I’ll start off with a nice surprise, the Phonat remix of The Young Punx. Both artists I really like. Fantastic remix by Phonat though, you all probably know I love that strange retro synth sound which is probably most exaggerated by Calvin Harris. The Young Punx will actually be releasing a new package of remixes of this track available at Beatport. Second is the Klumpfisk remix of Lykke Li, more of an instrumental remix of it really. It’s kind of mellow, that’s a nice change. And lastly, I posted all of their other remixes so why not this one? The CSS remix of Bloc Party, sounds very much the same style as their other remixes. Nice to see they’ve decided to stick with their roots.
Final section to this series, this is no longer a repost and neither was the last part. I’ve been saving this Kylie track for a while. My favorite remix by CSS. This actually made me love this song, the first time I listened to the original Wow, I thought good but nothing spectacular. They added some synth sounds and guitar riffs, it somehow makes the track really good. Two less synth oriented remixes by CSS, first of Digitalism. A strange twist to Digitalism’s Pogo, they made it less digital. And lastly, of another Brazilian band Tetine.
The remix of Lykke Li is absolutely amazing, I love it. This was the first time I’ve heard of Lykke Li actually, as you’ve probably noticed I listen to electro, indie, and my guilty pleasure indie female vocalists. This remix really makes the track even better. They definitely didn’t take too much away from the original, but the little additions they made really put the song above. I found this track on Zeon’s Music Blog, though I kind of went out of my way to find it. This may be one of their newest remixes. Second is their remix of The B-52‘s, they added all the synth sounds. I’m not really sure if it’s the same guitar riffs or vocals, they may have made a complete cover of the song. If anyone could enlighten me about this, cause it sounds similar enough to be from the original but different enough to not be. Lastly, their remix of Sunny Day Sets Fire which sounds pretty awesome. I actually had to work hard trying to find new CSS remixes. I thought they gave up or something on it, but they’ve come out with quite a few since I last posted about them. One more part and I’m done with CSS remixes, stick with me one more day.
