The new Tron soundtrack is being released on December 7th, as we all know which was produced by Daft Punk. Before everyone goes wild, they were commissioned (although completely willingly and enthusiastic) to do a soundtrack for a movie. So everyone expecting full on French House madness will be utterly disappointed. I’m expecting a fantastic soundtrack, definitely not Daft Punk album #4. I know, it’s totally a given but some people just don’t get it reading some comments around the net. Didn’t include any originals, but the NTEIBINT remix of Derezzed.
Digitalism released a new EP Blitz which is fantastic because I haven’t really heard anything big from them since really Idealism, although the remixes from Moshi Moshi were great. The track Blitz really brings me back to the good old days. I hope this means we should be expecting an album from them soon.
The last track is actually from the good old days, the Bag Raiders remix of Cut Copy‘s Far Away, but with a nice little twist for you guys and future posts to come. I saw this track show up recently on Hype and was surprised I never posted it before. I am a huge Cut Copy fan and a even bigger Bag Raiders fan. The twist? Bag Raiders released their debut self titled album this month. What?! Yeah I know, I’ve yet to listen to it but it’s on the top of my to-do list.
Alright alright, the track sounds weird but give it a chance. DJ Lapse‘s most recent remix of Passion Pit. At first I thought it was off a note or something, but it really grew on me. I looked up what Kwaitech meant, supposedly it’s a tech offshoot of South Africa’s native Kwaito sound, that didn’t help me much. Marina posted Passion Pit a while back. Taking a different approach, Clubfeet‘s Teenage Suicide, sounds kind of like it’s from the 80’s. Danielle has posted these guys before, you can get their album Gold On Gold via iTunes. And lastly, I’ve posted enough remixes of this track right? Nope. Here’s Lalory‘s remix of Digitalism‘s Taken Away, probably the sixth remix I’ve posted of this track. Anyways, great track, I could listen to it forever.
Alright, seems Digitalism‘s Taken Away is going through a second wave of remixes, possibly from the remix contest? I’ve already posted the MMMatthias remix and the DJ Lapse remix before, decided I’d post these three and the original as well. The original is actually such an amazing song, I’ve always been a huge fan of Digitalism. If you like the track, you’ll probably love their debut album Idealism. This is an all German post, I didn’t intend it to be but I thought it was pretty cool all mentions are German. First remix is by Futureflashs, you’ve heard enough about him from me, can’t get enough of his stuff. Second is a remix from Esto, never heard of them before but I’m quite interested now. And lastly, the Herr Kaschke remix. All three tracks are slightly different, kind of Euro club electro.
Digitalism – Taken Away
Great start to the week. First track is from DJ Lapse, a remix of Digitalism‘s Taken Away. Really loving it cause it’s a tiny bit lighter than what I’ve been posting lately. Kind of the same deal for the next tracks. The FutureFlashs remix of Stay Ali. We’re definitely dancing at an 80’s party with this music, and a cool one at that. FutureFlashs is pro at making anything sound retro, it’s his specialty. Guh, I love the beat from this track, if there was only some way to harness it. And lastly, the ddpesh remix of Cut Copy. Sounding a bit robotic “futuristic”, a sound that’s always welcome of course. Don’t expect it all the time but softer beats are definitely favoring my ears at the moment.
Alright. I hope you have your plans set for Halloween, best costume wins a prize. The post later tonight will explain why I was hesitant about this post, BUT I made this earlier this week so I just followed through. You’ll understand. All dirty tracks tonight! Possibly for you to play at the party? They’re tracks from the Doom and Hoodrat Bang Gang mixtape. First track is the Boys Noize remix of Depeche Mode. I totally heard this original track at the Cafe, more Depeche Mode please. Boys Noize of course, dirtiness is expected! Second track was a bit unexpected, the Digitalism remix of Depeche Mode. Somewhat more dirty, I totally didn’t expect that from Digitalism. Depeche Mode has my heart today. While we’re in the 80’s mood, the Cut Copy completely retro sounding remix of The Presets. I think I just posted four of my favorite electro peeps so enjoy it. I have too many favorites.
Well, today is Thanksgiving for Canadians and definitely the least logical date for it. Americans have a nice long weekend for Thanksgiving in late November and obviously the Friday after Thanksgiving Day is Black Friday for Christmas shopping. Guess when our Christmas sales come in. Boxing Day, the day after Christmas. Fantastic. Let’s start off with the Shazam remix of Dizzee Rascal‘s Dance Wiv Me featuring Calvin Harris and Chrome. Keep up the good work Shazam, you’re definitely on my watchlist now. I never really thought of looking for remixes for this track, this one definitely surprised me. I love the synth background, it brings this song to another level. Second and sounding quite similar, the Fred Falke edit of Digitalism. Retro is the future. Lastly, the Futureflashs remix of GRUM. Rather older songs, but still great.
Very happy I’m finally posting some stuff from La Mode. I posted them a while of their mixtape with NLLR. Always really liked their stuff, not sure why I never tried to. I would like to attirbute some of the style to Australia, but I’m really not sure if I can. More the underground electro-club scene which is kind of universal. Or maybe we’re all copying Australia. This is actually three out of a bunch of remixes they sent me, I could only choose three for the post. So make sure you check out their stuff on their Myspace.
First is their remix of Digitalism labeled ‘space pirate’. That alone has me going. Very electro club, if you’re not playing this at your electro club you’re not cool. Second track is their ‘rubber dub’ dub of Cazals. Dub for a reason, no vocals. This track actually vaguely reminds me of MSTRKRFT with less claps. And lastly, their remix of We Smoke Fags which has that underground touch. Really liking all three tracks, they’ve definitely got their style down cause I can recognize it in all tracks.
