I haven’t posted about Immuzikation in a long time, it actually makes me sad that I haven’t. But alas, a mix from Alfredo with 39 tracks in 15 minutes. When I saw that, my initial reaction was “this is going to be way too busy”, I’m not always a big fan of mashup mixes, but it actually worked out amazingly. He was nice enough to include a very comprehensive tracklist which will come in handy cause these tracks are great. Basically everything I want to hear in a night in 15 minutes. Included three tracks, back in player form, his own remix of Metric‘s Help, I’m Alive. I absolutely love the mashup between Treasure Fingers and Santigold which leads into the synth he uses a couple times in the mix. Also included DJ Mehdi‘s Tunisia Bambaata and the Chromeo remix of Treasure Fingers. Also love the transition from K.I.M.’s Party Machini into MSTRKRFT, listened to that one a couple times.

How did I ever miss this Danger remix? Somehow I did. As any Danger track, this one of Midnight Juggernauts sounds like it should be in some 90’s show like MacGuyver. Some intuitive thinking to get out of a sticky situation with this playing in the background as MacGuyver manages to fix the hole in the engine with a pen and an egg. I’m pretty sure I’ve used this description before. Anyways, I’m always very excited about anything from Danger. Second is two decades early, very 70’s sounding blend by Immuzikation of Chromeo‘s Call Me Up and Skyy’s Call Me. What a great combination, though don’t get any ideas on that 70’s guitar riff. And lastly, the Jake Troth remix of Kanye‘s new track. I promise this will be one of the last I post, I feel bad having posted about him three posts in a row. Really liked this remix though, adds the perfect touches from turning the track from a somewhat slow monotone to a dance track. Also seems as though Kanye has released either a remastered or a 2nd remastered version of the track? The one I posted wasn’t? Anyways, you can investigate cause I’m not posting it again.
Alright, I’m quite excited about Kanye‘s new song because there’ll be lots of remixes that’ll come from it. And cause it’s not your usual song, they’ll have to get pretty creative remixing the track. Anyways, here’s a remix from Chew Fu. Second, the well overposted track Soulwax‘s remix of MGMT. I thought it was about time I posted this though, I’ve been hoping for a better quality version to prop up. Always loving Soulwax. And lastly, a remix from DJ Lapse of M.I.A. I posted him before a while back, I like how the original track is somewhat intact, Paper Planes is another track that’s hard to remix especially because everyone loves the original. Which by the way, someone mentioned before how it’s too bad M.I.A. called it quits, that’s about her stopping half way through her 2008 tour to take a break and start on her new album. Unorthodox, but new material is always good news.
I initially was going to post this picture, but I couldn’t understand what was going on and came to the conclusion that it was a hooker dancing in the middle of the street with people around taking pictures. So I decided otherwise.
You know what? Lykke Li is awesome, and I’m not just cause saying that because she’s hyped beyond belief. Anyways, I’ve heard a couple remixes of this track and was wondering why they all sounded like Daft Punk’s Digital Love. I really should’ve listened to the original. And I mean, by all means I’m not calling it copying cause it’s like four bass notes that are similar. I just like that beat and I’m so surprised to hear it with Lykke Li. Anyways, here’s a remix by Crash Berlin. I will try my best to stop obsessing over her. Second is Phrenzy back with his remix of The Paradise. If you’re not familiar with this track, Justice used it in their reject Fabric mix. It was definitely one of the highlights of the mix, great choice of a track to remix. Okay, lastly is a confusing one for me to post as is all Immuzikation mash-ups seeming. Why must you make it so hard Alfredo?! It consists of five tracks, possibly even in the mini-mix category; Justice‘s Planisphère (Part 1), Daft Punk‘s Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, Kanye West‘s Stronger and Stronger (A-Trak Remix), Kanye West and Daft Punk’s Stronger (Live at the Grammy’s), and Diplo‘s Work is Never Over. With a combination like that you can’t go wrong, loving the track. You will be assured to see many more Planisphere related remixes in the future, if not from me, from anywhere. I think Justice just revived their legacy, not that it really died.
Wish I could credit the artist who did the image above, but I can’t find it. And to end this post, I’m very happy to have broken the 400 barrier for subscribers! Though it’ll pop down to 350 from time to time, I know it will. Thanks for all the support all! Remember also to support the artists.
Guess I’ll start off with the oh so familiar Immuzikation mash-ups, this time of Santogold‘s Unstoppable and Treasure Fingers‘ Come True Tonight (Dub Mix) to make I’ve Got to Be True. Always fun trying to figure out how to introduce these, I guess I’ll keep the term ‘blend’ which the track was self labeled. At first I was a tad weary about the track as well, but when you get into the actual beat about one minute into the song, it really gets good. Anyone who complains after only listening to the first 30 seconds of the song, I know you didn’t read and I will hit you very hard in the face. It’s the main beat in the Treasure Fingers track which really brings this song forward. Second is the Punks Jump Up remix of Lykke Li. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, ‘not another Lykke Li track you attention whore’. I wouldn’t post it if I didn’t think it was good, and this remix was definitely worth it. Seriously, it doesn’t even sound like Lykke Li anymore, sounds like a great Daft Punk song. Third track is one I’ve had sitting on my desktop for a while now. The DJ Hell remix of Justice‘s remix of Simian‘s We Are Your Friends. Kind of a lounge track, it’s got a great vibe to it.
Lastly, I’d like to reiterate the art show my friend will be a part of. It’s project:gallery‘s annual fresh faces show in Los Angeles today September 6th from 7pm-10pm. If you’re in the neighborhood, make sure you drop by and tell them to play better tunes, the music police.
I’ll start off with what? This hasn’t been posted yet? The Alfa remix of Jupiter. I posted his remix of Cryptonites a while back which he won from the Cryptonites remix competition. Fantastic track, clean for electro. Second is the Shadow Dancer vocal mix of The Faint‘s The Geeks Were Right which was from the Futureflashs mix. Thought it was quite retro and strange sounding, all the better. And lastly, another Immuzikation mash-up of Jackson 5, Tittsworth, and Green Velvet. What an interesting combination. Not really electro, but it’s a great mash-up.
To any fellow bloggers, some zShare links from the last two weeks or so have my URL tagged in them. Seems Winamp did this automatically when I auto tagged everything, so if you’re going to use those mp3s, reset them cause they show up on Hype, or just download the Savefile links cause I replaced them all.
Sorry guys, seriously if I could think of more creative titles I would. Maybe you can submit some to me, cause I’m fresh out. Almost 300 posts in, I’ve used up all the good ones. We’ll start off with the rather overposted original track, MGMT‘s Electric Feel, the Immuzikation remix. This is Alfredo’s first ‘real’ remix, have to say I enjoyed it. Love the talkbox, strangely reminds me of Chromeo. Second is the Bo$$ in Drama remix of Mixhell, guh what a fantastic sound. I hope you’re dancing to this track, or at least tapping your foot cause you’re probably not at a club at this very moment. Dance or DIE! And lastly, the Database remix of The BPA. Dirty dirty dirty. Both Bo$$ in Drama and Database are Brazillian and are really bringing that sound around. Let’s hear more electro from there.
