Back in the day when I was just starting out blogging, I was mad for the then more underground French house scene. Well, what might have been mainstreaming in France was more underground here, we’re like 2 years behind. I haven’t really listened to Kavinsky or SebastiAn for a while now, but I’m happy to have a post of a bunch of them now. Nightcall was actually produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo from Daft Punk, mixed by SebastiAn and has guest vocals from Lovefoxxx. That’s a pretty crazy list right there. Totally digging Nightcall, I like that the track doesn’t have to depend on being fast. And back to what I’m more used to from Kavinsky, Pacific Coast Highway with the retro sounding electro. And I also included a downloadable MMMatthias remix of the track.
I haven’t posted a mix in a long time, so I decided why not post the MMMatthias 2010 Mix. Now it’s much more club than you would expect from me, so I’ll promise a very electro post next time. It’s not hard to go wrong with a club mix, seamless is what will set you above other amateur DJs, which is exactly what MMMatthias pulled off. I expected nothing less.
I included three tracks as well from the mix, first is from MMMatthias himself, his remix of The Sneekers‘ track Germs. It’s quite the party track. Second is GTronic‘s remix of Pink a Pad‘s, can’t say I’ve really heard of either but after listening to the track, I’ve definitely heard some version of it before. And lastly, the Tom EQ Remix of Claude VonStroke and possibly my favorite from the mix. I kind of went backwards on the tracklist.
1. Digitalfoxglove – ??? (MMMatthias Dub)
2. Claude VonStroke – Vocal Chords (Tom EQ Remix)
3. Congorock – Babylon
4. Boys Noize – Nott (MMMatthias Edit)
5. MMMatthias – Lies (Ikki Remix)
6. Pink is Pad’s – Pink is back (GTronic Remix)
7. The Sneekers – Germs (MMMatthias Remix)
8. MMMatthias – James (LaClopeAuBec Remix)
9. Sharooz – Saccharin (SonicC Remix)
10. MMMatthias – The Answer
How was your Halloweens? Unfortunately I didn’t get a post up that night, as I was out, but I’m still going through mixes to post for the event (late). Although I didn’t get any Halloween-themed mixes, I’ll make do with what I have. First off is from last week, one of the bigger hits which caught my ears, The White Panda mash-up of T.I.‘s What You Know and Passion Pit‘s Little Secrets. Amazing mash-up. Second is from the Immuzikation mix I posted last week. I totally missed the track, the Fred Falke remix of Grizzly Bear. And if any of you are coming here from the Hype Machine wondering where that Chromeo remix of Treasure Fingers is, it’s in the last post. It didn’t post before for some reason. Lastly, the MMMatthias remix of Killer on the Dancefloor. Make sure you check out the EP for the track at Beatport or Amazon.
Alright, time for another Weekend Update. Hopefully things get less busy and there’ll actually be more posts in between our weekend updates… rather than just having the updates. Soon my friends, soon. Reverting a little, here’s the Treasure Fingers “Epicwave” remix of Little Boots. I was going to say that “oh, way back when I posted the original Treasure Fingers remix of this track”, but this is their only remix. I literally scoured the whole blog looking for it, the original remix I was thinking of was the Fake Blood remix of Stuck on Repeat. Completely different. I love what they did to the track, it’s the little things that count. Next is the MMMatthias remix of NightWaves, thanks Sheena Beaston for the track, I totally stalk your blog. Gave some attention to NightWaves a while back, this sounds quite different. Given that it’s a remix, not a huge surprise, I really like it actually. And lastly, the 80Kidz remix of 8otto‘s AF, too many random letters and numbers! This time thanks to Too Many Sebastians.
Old song, new remix of The Bravery by Super Discount. Reminds me of back in high school when I liked The Bravery. Absolutely loving the beat in this track, if only we could harness it and put it in other tracks. Hint. Another Passion Pit remix, although I enjoyed this one a lot. It’s interesting to say the least, I’m quite curious about Miike Snow now. And lastly, the dAi and MMMatthias remix of The Gossip‘s 8th Wonder. Interesting intro, once you get into the track it gets pretty club. I had the week update for you now because I have a little surprise for you tomorrow. I like it at least, although it’s a bit more than a week old. I’ll give you a hint, it’s Australian.
Passion Pit – The Reeling (Miike Snow Remix)
A mixtape for you guys. One of my favorite remix producers MMMatthias has finally come out with a mix for the month. I’m a week late on posting this, then again I haven’t posted in a week. An overall very dirty electro sound coming from this mix, I absolutely loved the intro. It’s very creepy and epic like Justice’s, except it’s not Justice this time. That’s right, this is a Justice free mix. There’s actually a nice mix between French house and what I’m assuming is German techno in this mix.
So the first track is DatA‘s Blood Theme. It’s the last track from their recently released album Skywriter which you can get at Ekleroshock. Make sure you check it out. I’m a huge fan of French house so, I guess I’m easily swooned by this kind of music. Second is the third track, the Shadow Dancer remix of Zombie Nation, neither of which I’ve heard of. German techno? And lastly, the Vitalic remix of Birdy Nam Nam, once again French house.
1. DatA – Blood Theme
2. Overthrill – Rox
3. Zombie Nation – Mystery Meat Affair(Shadow Dancer Remix)
4. Hey Today – If I was Wonderman(Bobmo Remix)
5. Boys Noize – Jeffer
6. Burns – Turbo(Jokers of the Scene Remix)
7. The Faint – Machine in the Ghost (Djedjotronic Remix)
8. Birdy Nam Nam – The Parachute Ending (Vitalic Remix)
9. Moderat – Les Grandes Marches (MMMatthias Remix)
10.Fukkk Offf – Love me, Hate me, Kiss me, Kill me
Got another three tracks for you today, surprise! Starting off with the MMMatthias remix of Moderat. Interesting to say the least, no vocals. Although I have no idea what the original sounds like so I’m not exactly sure how MMMatthias changed it. Sounds like something out of a sci-fi computer game. Second is the Yuksek remix of Phoenix, really , liking this track after the intro. It has a really awesome beat, although it sounds ever so slightly of that terrible Crazy Town song. I wasn’t exactly happy having Butterfly stuck in my head the rest of the morning. Great track though haha. And lastly, the Don Diablo remix of Dragonette which strangely reminds me of Justice, at least the intro of the song. I wouldn’t have minded hearing more of the sound they used in the intro actually. It gets a little funky after that, absolutely loving it.
