Regular Day Not At Work

Easter Weekend! We get it off here anyways, not sure about the US. Someone I know who goes to university in the US said he still had classes. Let’s start off the day with some of The Bloody Beetroots and their remix of Vitalic Second Lives. I don’t normally post The Bloody Beetroots because their area of dance music I don’t typically enjoy, but I really liked this track. So I made an exception damn it. Second is The Twelves remix of Two Door Cinema Club which I’m four days late on posting. I got to add them on my RSS reader or something to stay up to date on them. As usual from The Twelves, totally the right sound I love, I expect nothing less! And lastly, another Ha! Yes mash-up, this time of Notorious B.I.G. Juicy and The xx Intro. I know, there’s been so many B.I.G. and The xx mash-ups lately that you’re probably sick of it. I was too, but I heard this and was pleasantly surprised. So before you comment about how disgusted you are before you even listen to the track, give it a chance.

The Twelves @ Essential Mix

An early Merry Christmas to all! A late Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa? Whatever other holidays I may have missed. It’s also close to the end of 2009 and I’ll do my damned best in compiling an end of the year list, but no promises. This year has been rough. And what better way to celebrate the holidays with an epic non-holiday related week late mix. It’s epic, so it qualifies for the holiday post.

It’s been a very long time since I posted anything from Essential Mix or really even listened to it. I used to dedicated every Friday night (or Monday morning at school/work if I missed it) to Essential Mix before heading out. Being 5 hours behind here, it’s not post-club… it’s pre-club madness. This I couldn’t pass up though, The Twelves at Essential Mix from last Friday. Honestly two hours of greatness. I noticed some in-mix remixes which I hope they intend on pursuing later on, and I also see some old goodies in there. Oh the nostalgia. And honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve heard such a smooth mix, none of that repeat beat change shit. The Twelves is legit. Included two tracks today, the primary one being The Twelves of Fever Ray’s Seven. Fever Ray being one of the artists that deserves more attention on this blog. And the DFA dub of The Rapture.

The Twelves up in the North East

Well, The Twelves have made it up here. Can’t be sure if it’s their first time touring up in Canada, but it’s certainly the first I’ve heard of it since I’ve heard of them back in ’07. This is the second half of their tour of sorts, they’ve already made it to the west coast. Just to get you a little prepped for the show and for those of you who are still weary about going, here’s two tracks ripped from their older live shows thanks Too Many Sebastians. Their remix of Daft Punk‘s Aerodynamic which ends with Scenario Rock‘s Skitzo Dancer and of Radiohead‘s There There. Also check out the video of them playing. They actually play live? We’ll see if they actually try that hard this time around, we’re all used to those DJ’s who lazily flip through songs on their computer. What’s this live music making stuff? Blasphemy. Also check out their mixtapes one and two, as well as their mini-mix.

Checkin It Out

Checking emails, three pages worth of them. Not being exactly thorough so I might miss some gems although I apologize for the lack of posting mixes. I’ll “try my best” to get to that, whatever that’s worth these days. I’ve got some pretty good ones sitting on my desktop waiting to be posted. For now, three tracks as usual. First off is the ever so popular Fred Falke‘s remix of La Roux which comes as no surprise as both are quite known in their own genres. The usual French house sounds from Fred Falke. Second is The Twelves remix of Database versus French Horn Rebellion‘s Beaches and Friends. Not completely sure what the original tracks are. And lastly, the Buffetlibre and Sidechains remix of Little BootsRemedy. Track takes a strange twist after a minute into the track, very interesting.

Weekend Update

I already kind of posted an update on Wednesday, but I’m currently on catch-up mode. I haven’t posted mixes in a while now, I’m going through a couple for the first time in a while. Hopefully next week will be filled with mixes. It takes a long time to listen to a whole mix! Starting off the end of the week with the Sonic Truth remix of The Faint. You can check out more of their tracks at PARTYCMYK. A very interesting cover by The Twelves of Daft Punk‘s Nightvision. It’s very Twelves anyways, of a song that people usually skip over. And lastly, a new FUKKK OFFF track for those of you clubbers. Dylan, remix this. 😀

Continuing on with some tracks from this week. The Three Fingers remix of Calvin Harris, just a heads up it’s very club. For all of you who like that, woo! And lastly, once again one of the chillest electro tracks from Jacques Lu Cont of Sneaky Sound System. I love the laissez-faire sound to electro he takes and the track is almost 8 minutes long.

Schools Out!

Well, for the non-high school kids anyways. Apologies to anyone who tried to email me the last week, had absolutely no time for the blog. Anyways, starting out with some “hits” that came about while I was away. Yeah, what a terrible word, way too popular. I had mixed reactions to The Twelves‘ remix of Metric Help I’m Alive, but I eventually got off my “Metric fanboy” high horse and really grew to like the track. I’m sure you can too. Second is Justice again with their remix of Lenny Kravitz, I’d be doing you an injustice for not posting it. What can I say? Has Justice written all over it, I really want to find out how they made those sounds that’s so particular to all their tracks. I’ll call it the scratchy kick drum. And lastly, possibly my favorite track this week, the Ghosthustler remix of Futurecop! and you totally know my weakness for tracks that sound like this. So it’s not saying anything about the other two tracks in this post cause they’re all good. If it sounds like it could be in a 90’s movie, I’m game.
